What is Sea Buckthorn?

Sea Buckthorn, also known as SeaBerry (Hippophae rhamnoides), has long been revered as “THE HOLY FRUIT FROM THE NORTH” across the Tibet–Himalayan region, and has been documented in ancient medicinal texts throughout Tibet.

Recognized as one of nature’s most potent berries, SeaBerry contains over 190 bioactive nutrients that contribute to overall health and well-being. Our Sea Buckthorn is sourced from the Tibetan Plateau at elevations reaching up to 15,000 feet. Intense sunlight, high altitude, and extreme environmental conditions create a unique ecosystem that naturally enhances the synthesis and potency of its nutritional profile.

Legend

The genus name of sea buckthorn, “Hippophae,” is derived from the Greek words “hippo” (horse) and “phaos” (shine). This name originates from the ancient Greek practice of feeding sea buckthorn to horses to make their skin and coats appear more radiant and glossy.

When Alexander the Great returned from India after conquering Persia, he and his army traveled across desert regions now known as Pakistan and Iran. Due to the scarcity of food and water, many soldiers and horses were left in a near-death condition.

During this journey, they passed through areas where sea buckthorn grew. After consuming its berries and leaves, the horses regained their strength—evident in their restored vitality and the renewed shine of their coats.

Key Features

Modern science now confirms what has long been understood in ancient traditions—that sea buckthorn is the only plant known to contain a complete spectrum of Omega fatty acids. Sea Buckthorn is recognized as one of the most nutrient-dense sources in nature, containing Omega 3, 6, 9, and 7 (palmitoleic acid)—a relatively rare fatty acid that plays an important role in supporting mucosal regeneration and maintaining skin elasticity. This unique advantage is further enhanced by a rich profile of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that work synergistically to support total-body health down to the cellular core. Sea Buckthorn is often referred to as a “valuable healing berry” and is a sustainable, plant-based source of essential omegas. With over 190 phytonutrients and powerful antioxidants, SeaBerry is regarded as one of the most complete superfruits in the world—naturally sourced from the northern regions.

Sea Buckthorn Antioxidant

Sea Buckthorn is a gift from nature, rich in proanthocyanidins and flavonoids—two essential compounds known as powerful antioxidants that help protect the body’s cells from the harmful effects of oxidative stress.

Going beyond conventional nutritional standards, this fruit contains an exceptionally high concentration of Vitamin C—up to 10 times greater than that of oranges. This remarkable advantage makes it one of the most potent natural sources for strengthening the body’s defense system.
