Nutrition Scientist, Sports Nutrition Expert & Product Innovation Leader
Dr. Robert Wildman has spent more than two decades at the intersection of nutrition science, sports performance, health, and the consumer wellness industry. A registered and licensed dietitian, researcher, university educator, and industry consultant, he brings a rare combination of scientific training and hands-on experience in turning nutrition concepts into products that reach consumers at scale. His career has included work with leading organizations across sports nutrition, functional foods, dietary supplements, and fitness, giving him a broad perspective on how nutrition science evolves from research into everyday use.
A defining part of Dr. Wildman’s career has been his involvement in the creation and launch of hundreds of products across multiple categories and formats. His experience ranges from proteins, gainers, amino acids, and pre-workouts to ready-to-drink beverages, juices, teas, yogurts, smoothies, bars, gummies, chews, powders, and other nutritional products. Beyond formulation itself, he has worked across ingredient research, finished-product development, regulatory considerations, branding, marketing, education, and commercialization—allowing him to evaluate nutrition products not only from a scientific standpoint, but also through the realities of bringing them to market.
His academic background provides the scientific foundation behind this industry experience. Dr. Wildman earned his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University, his M.S. from Florida State University, and his B.S. from The University of Pittsburgh. He has held university teaching and research positions and has served as faculty in human nutrition. His professional work has remained closely connected to the study and practical application of nutrition, particularly in areas involving protein, sports nutrition, supplementation, fitness, and human health.
Dr. Wildman has also established himself as a prominent educator and communicator in the field. He is the author of several nutrition and functional food references, including The Nutritionist: Food, Nutrition & Optimal Health, Advanced Human Nutrition, Sport & Fitness Nutrition, and The Handbook of Nutraceuticals & Functional Foods. His expertise has extended beyond academic and industry settings through television, radio, print, and digital media, where he has helped make complex nutrition topics more understandable and actionable for broader audiences.
Through his work as the creator of TheNutritionDr.com, founder of InternationalProteinBoard.org, and principal at Demeter Consultants LLC, Dr. Wildman continues to connect scientific knowledge with innovation in nutrition and wellness.
